Meet Jethro!

His velvety black and tan coat invites you to pet him. To feel its smooth, warm texture beneath the palm of your hand. Then as he lifts his head, you find yourself captured by his sweet, goofy smile, at the way his tongue lolls playfully out of one side of his mouth, and you start to laugh. Could Jethro be laughing too? A September baby, he celebrated his first birthday, and he is still very much a happy-go-lucky puppy who has yet to grow into his long, long legs and lanky frame.

Jethro also has that special blend of puppy mischief and puppy smarts, learning quickly how to be well-behaved, and soaking up instructions like an eager puppy sponge. He already knows the basic commands of come, wait, stay, leave it, off and no jumping. But more importantly, he knows and responds to his name. Call out “Jethro” while he is running free in the dog park with his many doggy friends and he will usually come running.

Sweet and good-natured, he is very affectionate. He thrives on the attention he receives from everyone, and loves both getting kisses and giving kisses back. He is a very good sport when it comes to having his ears cleaned and his nails trimmed, and he enjoys nothing more than a good, long bath.

Ever the young gentleman, Jethro greets visitors politely at the door and never puts a paw on the furniture. He rides very well in the car and has grown more comfortable being walked on a leash, but he remains slightly timid about oncoming traffic while on his walks. Although he loves his crate, and stays there for the 3 hours his foster mom is out each day, he is still somewhat anxious when entering it. Non-confrontational and not particularly vocal, gentle Jethro is good with cats and because he loves the companionship of other dogs, his ideal forever home (a fenced yard is essential) would include another doggy playmate to call his own.
